BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following an impressive victory over Navy, the Lehigh men's basketball team enters the final stretch of the regular season, beginning on Sunday when the Mountain Hawks travel to archrival Lafayette. Opening tipoff against the Leopards is set for 12 p.m. The game begins a stretch of three games in six days to close out the regular season.

Lehigh is coming off a 74-55 victory over the Midshipmen Wednesday, the team's second straight home win over a top-two seed in the Patriot League. Last Wednesday (Feb. 8), the Mountain Hawks defeated first-place Bucknell while a week later, Lehigh beat a Navy team that was tied for second. The Mountain Hawks never trailed on Wednesday, opening a 5-0 lead and holding the Midshipmen off the scoreboard until 4:28 into the game. Navy pulled as close as five, before Lehigh opened an 18-point lead. Navy pulled back within four early in the second half, but the Mountain Hawks used a 20-2 run to open a 58-36 lead, on their way to their ninth home win of the season (compared to just two losses).

Five Lehigh players reached double-figure points for the first time since nonleague play as senior Austin Price led the way with 19 points. Fifteen of Price's points came in the second half as he finished 7-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-5 from long distance. In the process, he moved into 14th place in school history for career points (currently 1,357 points). In addition, junior Kahron Ross dished five assists to move into ninth place in single-season school history with 136. Ross now owns the Nos. 1, 4 and 9 spots for assists in a season.

Senior Tim Kempton, sophomore Kyle Leufroy and freshman Pat Andree each had 12 points. Andree was also 3-of-5 from long distance, helping the Mountain Hawks finish 52.6 percent from three-point range for the game (10-of-19). Junior Brandon Alston scored seven of Lehigh's first 10 points, finishing the game with 10 on 4-of-5 shooting. As a team, the Mountain Hawks shot 57.4 percent from the field (27-of-47), the sixth time this season Lehigh has shot 56.5 percent or higher for a game.

Defense played a large role in the Mountain Hawks' victory, holding Navy to just 39.7 percent shooting, including only 33.3 percent in the first half. In the month of February, Lehigh has allowed just 62, 55, 71, 61 and 55 points (60.8 per game). Wednesday's win helped Lehigh avenge a tough loss at Navy on Jan. 18. The Mountain Hawks remain in fourth place in the league standings, one game behind Navy in third and one ahead of Loyola in fifth. Lehigh could still finish as high as second place and as low as seventh as only four games separate second through seventh place.

Lafayette enters Sunday's matchup with an 8-18 overall record, including 4-11 in Patriot League play. The Leopards are coming off a strong 78-65 win over American on Wednesday, their second straight home win and second win in their last three games overall. Matt Klinewski leads the team, and is second in the Patriot League, in scoring, averaging 16.4 points per game. Nick Lindner is one of the top point guards in the league, averaging 13.9 points and 4.3 assists per contest. He's followed by Paulius Zalys at 8.7 points per game and Kyle Stout averaging 7.2. Lafayette is fifth in the league in scoring average (66.9), but is last in scoring defense (75.8).

Lehigh's 75-68 win over Lafayette earlier this season marked the Mountain Hawks' third straight win over their archrivals. This came after Lehigh wins of 87-72 and 73-61 last season, the first season sweep by Lehigh since the 2011-12 campaign. The Mountain Hawks have won five of the last seven meetings overall, including two straight at Lafayette. The long-time rivals first met in 1901-92, a 46-13 Lehigh victory. Lehigh won the first four games with Lafayette's first win coming in 1914-15. Lafayette currently leads the all-time series, 139-84 in the most-played opponent for both schools.

Following Sunday's game, the Mountain Hawks return home to wrap up the regular season. Lehigh hosts Colgate on Wednesday (7 p.m.) and Army West Point on Saturday (7:30 p.m.). Tickets for both games are available and can be purchased online by clicking here.
