BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 10 Lehigh opens its home schedule by welcoming a pair of nationally-ranked foes to Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall, as the Mountain Hawks host No. 24 Edinboro Friday and No. 4 Michigan on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks opened the dual season with a 36-2 win at Bucknell last Friday and then sent 18 wrestlers to the Journeymen Collegiate Classic in Troy, N.Y. on Sunday. Five Mountain Hawks went 3-0 to win their respective pools at the Journeymen Classic, led by junior Scott Parker, who knocked off three ranked opponents to earn the Hammer Award as the event's outstanding wrestler. Edinboro and Michigan are the first two of eight teams currently ranked in the NWCA/USA Today Top 25 to appear on Lehigh's 2017-18 dual schedule.

Following a win at Bucknell in which Lehigh won nine bouts, scoring bonus points in six of those wins, 18 Lehigh wrestlers competed at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic, Nov. 12 in Troy, N.Y. The Mountain Hawks enjoyed a strong showing in the modified round-robin tournament format, with five Mountain Hawks posting 3-0 records to win their respective pools. Overall Lehigh went 36-18 on the day. The five wrestlers who went 3-0 on the day were senior Darian Cruz (125), junior Scott Parker (133), junior Ian Brown (157), sophomore Jordan Kutler (174) and junior Ryan Preisch (184). Parker earned the Hammer Award as the event's Outstanding Wrestler after beating three ranked wrestlers including then-No. 3 Kaid Brock of Oklahoma State. Deferred freshman Chris Weiler made his varsity debut with a 2-1 showing at 197.

Eight Mountain Hawks appear in the latest rankings by FloWrestling, while seven Lehigh wrestlers are currently ranked by both InterMat and Amateur Wrestling News. Junior Scott Parker moved up from four to three across the board after a 4-0 week that included a win over Oklahoma State's Kaid Brock. Freshman Chris Weiler entered three sets of rankings at 197 after a 2-1 showing at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic, while junior Ian Brown's 4-0 start has him ranked by FloWrestling at 157. Just five Mountain Hawks are ranked by The Open Mat. Parker, senior Darian Cruz, sophomore Jordan Kutler, junior Ryan Preisch and freshman Jordan Wood are all ranked across all four polls.

Lehigh has enjoyed a run of quality heavyweights under Pat Santoro, beginning with NCAA Champion and three-time All-American Zach Rey, All-American Max Wessell and last year Doug Vollaro, who reached the round of 12 in his senior campaign. Deferred freshman Jordan Wood has taken the reins at heavyweight and has won three of his first four bouts. Wood went 11-3 competing unattached in open tournaments last season, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the prestigious Midlands Championships. The Gilbertsville, Pa. native was Lehigh's Deferred Eligibility Wrestler of the Year last season. On the freestyle circuit, Wood was a Cadet World silver medalist in 2014 and represented the United States at the Junior World Championships in 2016.

Two longtime rivals who have forged a friendship in their post-collegiate days will serve as honorary captains for the Michigan match. Mike Caruso (Lehigh '67) and Bob Fehrs (Michigan '67) are the only duo to meet three times in the NCAA finals, with Caruso claiming all three meetings at 123 lbs. in 1965 (8-5), 1966 (9-6) and 1967 (7-6), on the way to becoming Lehigh's only three-time national champion and it's most accomplished wrestler ever. Fehrs ended up a three-time runner-up and three-time Big Ten champion. A photo of Caruso and Fehrs atop the podium following the 1967 NCAA finals is one of the more memorable images in Lehigh wrestling history.

No. 24 Edinboro comes to town with a 2-0 mark after defeating CSU Bakersfield and Bucknell on the season's opening weekend. Last time out, the Fighting Scots sent a contingent to the EMU Open in Ypsilanti, Mich., where six wrestlers placed in the open division and seven more placed in the freshman and sophomore division. Sophomores Korbin Myers and Dakota Geer led Edinboro with second place finishes in the open division. The Fighting Scots have four wrestlers ranked nationally by InterMat, led by Sean Russell at 125. Myers, senior Austin Matthews (165) and junior Billy Miller (285) are also ranked in the top 20. Tim Flynn, the 2014-15 NWCA National Coach of the Year, is in his 21st season at Edinboro.

With seven top 10-ranked wrestlers listed among its probable starters a talented Michigan team will be making a run at a team trophy come March. The Wolverines are currently ranked fourth nationally and won their dual opener over No. 11 Arizona State 21-18. Michigan's probable lineup includes three wrestlers ranked in the top three nationally: No. 2 Stevan Micic at 133, No. 3 Logan Massa at 165 and No. 2 Adam Coon at 285. Fourth-ranked Myles Amine (174) knocked off Lehigh's Ryan Preisch in last year's round of 12 at the NCAA tournament, while No. 5 Domenic Abounader (184) and No. 8 Alec Pantaleo (157) join Coon in earning a top-10 ranking coming off a redshirt season. Joe McFarland is in his 19th season as head coach at his Alma Mater.

Lehigh and Edinboro will meet for the 16th time. The Mountain Hawks have won the last two meetings with the Fighting Scots. Prior to the 2015-16 season the previous six duals in the series had taken place at neutral sites. Lehigh and Michigan had met in 34 straight seasons from 1977-78 through 2010-11 before the series resumed in January. Michigan has won the last two after Lehigh claimed the first three meetings under Pat Santoro.

Friday's match with Edinboro gets underway at 7 p.m. from Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall, while Sunday's Michigan dual is slated for a 1 p.m. start.  Tickets for both duals are still available and can be purchased at LehighTickets.com or by calling 610-7LU-GAME during normal business hours.

Lehigh will be off for Thanksgiving weekend and will return to action at EIWA rival Princeton on Friday, Dec. 1 before hosting longtime rival Penn State Sunday Dec. 3 at PPL Center in Allentown in the 106th dual in Eastern wrestling's oldest rivalry. Penn State has won six of the last seven NCAA team titles and the last seven duals against the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh defeated the Nittany Lions in each of Pat Santoro's first two seasons. Start time for the Penn State match is set for 2 p.m.
