Lehigh Will Open Patriot League Slate at Holy Cross

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The defending Patriot League Champion Lehigh men's soccer team will take its first steps towards a title defense on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks open their Patriot League schedule on the road at Holy Cross.

Kickoff at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium is set for 7:35 p.m. Live stats will be provided by Holy Cross.

Lehigh enters Saturday night's contest with a record of 2-4-1 and is coming off a 1-1 draw with Penn at home this past Tuesday night. The Mountain Hawks are winless in their last two contests with a 2-1 loss to Robert Morris prior to the draw with Penn.

Holly Cross will enter Saturday with a 4-3 record and is returning home after suffering a 3-1 loss on the road to Sacred Heart this past Wednesday night. The Crusaders will put their unblemished 4-0 home record on the line on Saturday. Their last home loss was a 1-0 loss in double-overtime to American on November 1 of last season and their last regulation home loss occurred on October 21 of last season in a 1-0 defeat to Northeastern.

Lehigh is 2-1 on the road this season and has out-scored its opponents 5-4 in those games. Holy Cross has out-scored opponents 12-3 on its home turf this season to remain undefeated.

The Mountain Hawks are averaging 1.00 goals per game, while opponents are scoring 1.29 goals per game against them. Lehigh is led in all offensive categories by sophomore forward Mark Forrest who has 11 points on four goals and three assists. The Crusaders are scoring 2.00 goals per game, while surrendering 1.43 goals per game to their opponents. Holy Cross is led offensively by Matt Villano who has 10 points on a team-high four goals to go with two assists. Arno Rupp ranks second on the team with 7 points on three goals and one assist. Owen Azrak leads the squad with three assists.

Lehigh owns a 12-10-6 all-time record against Holy Cross since the series began in 1990. The Crusaders won last year's meeting, 1-0, at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Lehigh won the last meeting on Holy Cross's home turf, 2-1, on Nov. 8, 2014.

The Mountain Hawks finished last season with a Patriot League record of 4-3-2 to earn the fourth seed in the Patriot League Tournament and went on to win the title. Holy Cross finished 3-4-2 in Patriot League play last season and missed the PL postseason.

Following Saturday's game at Holy Cross, Lehigh will return home for a non-conference tilt with St. Francis (Pa.) on Tuesday night with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
