BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams are set to host the annual Lehigh Games at the Goodman Track this Friday and Saturday, as well as compete at the Penn Relays on Thursday-Saturday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. The pair of meets will serve as the final tune-up ahead of next weekend's Patriot League Championships.

The Lehigh Games will kick off on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. with the javelin and hammer throws. All remaining field events will resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning with track events getting started at 11 a.m. with the 5K. Lehigh will be joined by eight other institution including St. Joseph's, Lafayette, Loyola (Md.), Muhlenberg, East Stroudsburg, DeSales, Felician and Ottawa. A complete rundown of all events and information for the games can be found here.

The women's team will have numerous athletes competing on Thursday including freshman Kaitlyn Toman in the pole vault, Amanda Youngblood in the discus throw and Michaela Bubak in the hammer throw. A trio of high jumpers will take part in Thursday's collegiate event, featuring Sarah Cassidy, Gabrielle Wardle and Brittany Le Jouan. Courtney Avery will look to improve her top leap in the Patriot League this year in Friday's high jump championship. Senior Elizabeth Weiler will run in the 10K championship late on Thursday evening, fresh off her 35:24.91 performance at last weekend's Virginia Challenge, which ranks as the season's top time in the Patriot League. Thursday will also feature the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, in addition to the distance medley relay team.

In addition to the previously mentioned high jump championship, the Brown and White will be represented in three other events on Friday by school record holder Kiana Wright in the triple jump, Katie Hatler in the 100m hurdles, and the trio of Wardle, Melody Walthers and Meghan Reilly in the javelin.

The men will have a duo competing in the 3,000m steeplechase championship on Thursday evening at 7:45 p.m. with John Tolbert and Scott Mason, followed by Evan Hardy in the 5K championship. Ryan Cooney and Samuel Layding will also compete in the Olympic Development 5K on Thursday evening, which is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Daniel Boardman will leadoff for the men on Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the high jump college event, with Lucas Warning competing in the shot put college event at 1:15 p.m. The 4x100 and 4x400 relays will also take place on Friday afternoon.

The final two men will take flight on Saturday, when Daniel Reichenbach will compete in the triple jump and Adeolu Adesida in the high jump championship. A complete list and schedule of Lehigh's events at the Penn Relays can be found here.

Both the men's and women's teams competed last weekend at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University. Highlights from the men included sophomore Patrick Reilly and senior Sean Burke, who both met IC4A qualifying marks in the 5000 meter run. Reilly took 12th place with a time of 14:35.64 while Burke took 21st at 14:42.21.

The women's side was highlighted by Avery winning the high jump with a mark of 1.78m, one centimeter away from her own program record en route to being named the PL's Field Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week. Weiler represented Lehigh at the Virginia Challenge at UVA, running the fastest 10K time of the season (35:24.91) and finishing in 19th place.

Next week's Patriot League Championships will take place on Friday-Saturday, May 6-7 at Bucknell's Christy Mathewson Stadium. Check back to Lehighsports.com for complete coverage leading up to the meet.
