BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams will enter their third weekend of outdoor action close to home this Saturday at the Muhlenberg Invitational.
The unscored meet will kick off on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. with the hammer throw at Moravian College, with all other events taking place on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at Muhlenberg's Scotty Wood Stadium. The Mountain Hawks are among 18 schools expected to attend, including fellow Division I foes Lafayette, Princeton and Seton Hall. Lehigh is coming off back-to-back weekends where the teams have split their squads between a pair of meets. Both the men and women finished in first place at this past weekend's Lafayette 7-Way Invitational, while 13 competed at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina.
The women's team earned seven wins from seven different individuals last Saturday at the Lafayette 7-Way. Michaela Bubak won the hammer throw, setting a new personal-best by over two meters in the process (49.29m), and Ashley Strysko turned out a new PR with her 5K victory (18:20.71). Lehigh tallied additional wins from Katie Hatler in the 100m hurdles, Tyler Scanlin in the 800m dash, Gabrielle Wardle in the high jump, Kiana Wright in the long jump and Amanda Youngblood in the discus.
The men grabbed six wins to go along with seven runner up performances as Brian Arita (5K), Henry Paul (3,000 steeplechase), Adeolu Adesida (high jump), Cody Israel (triple jump) and Lucas Warning (shot put) all earned wins to help Lehigh top the field of five teams at the meet. James Clements, Christopher Del Rossi, Tom Troxell and Robert Iulo all helped lead the 4x400 relay team to a win as well.
At the Raleigh Relays, senior Elizabeth Weiler finished 26th out of 96 runners in the women's 5K and Patrick Reilly finished 31st in the men's 10K to highlight the meet for the Brown and White.
Following this weekend's meet, Lehigh will compete in their annual dual meet at Lafayette on Saturday, April 9.
