The Mountain Hawks erased a 14-point second-half deficit to pull within one, but couldn't compete the comeback as Navy earned a 62-54 win Wednesday evening at Stabler Arena. Junior Lexi Martins led Lehigh with her 19th double-double of the season and set a new Lehigh single-season rebound record in the process. Martins finished the game with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Her fifth rebound of the game gave her 345 for the season, besting her own school record of 344 that was set last season. Senior Kerry Kinek and sophomore Quinci Mann both chipped in ten points.
For the season, Martins leads the team in points (14.6 per game), rebounds (14.2 per game) and assists (63). Her rebounding average leads all of Division I, while her 19 double-doubles rank third in the nation. Mann follows with 13.1 points per game, while Kinek has chipped in 11.6 points and 8.5 boards per contest.
Lafayette carries a 6-18 overall record into Saturday's contest. The Leopards are 4-10 in league play and tied for seventh place in the Patriot League standings.
Lafayette completed the season sweep of American with a 63-59 win over the Eagles Wednesday night in the Leopards' most recent action. Maia Hood scored 17 points off the bench and led three double-digit scorers. Jamie O'Hare (16 points) and Sammy Stipa (14 points) were part of the well-balanced second-half scoring output as the Leopards shot 48 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes, including 53 percent in the fourth quarter.
In addition to the two league wins over American this season, Lafayette also swept Boston University to account for the Leopards' four league wins. O'Hare leads the Leopards for the season with 14.8 points per game, while Ashley Lutz (8.5), Stipa (8.4) and Hood (8.4) follow behind.
Lehigh and Lafayette will be meeting for the 89th time in program history Saturday with the all-time series tied at 44-44. The two teams have split the regular-season series in each of the last three seasons.
