
Tuvesson and Smith Earn Patriot League Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's soccer junior Doyle Tuvesson and freshman Will Smith have both earned weekly Patriot League honors as announced by the conference office on Monday. Tuvesson was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Smith garnered the honor of Goalkeeper of the Week.
Tuvesson helped lead the Mountain Hawks to two wins last week as he tallied the game-winning goals in both contests. The junior lifted Lehigh to a 2-1 victory on the road at Fordham last Tuesday night with is goal in the 84th minute. His 48th-minute tally on Saturday at home against Boston University held up as the lone goal of the contest and gave Lehigh a much needed Patriot League victory.
Tuvesson totaled just four shots on the week and put three of his shots on goal. The junior has all three of his goals this season in the last four games and ranks second on the team with 10 points. Tuvesson is tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals.
Smith made three saves and allowed just one goal on the road at Fordham to a team averaging 2.00 goals per game at home leading into last Tuesday's matchup. The freshman put together a brilliant performance in Saturday's 1-0 win over Boston as he matched his season-high with eight saves with a clean sheet.
Smith posted a 0.50 goals-against average with a .916 save percentage for the week and 11 total saves. For the season, the freshman has 1.00 goals-against average to go with a .818 save percentage and two shutouts. Smith is 4-2-1 in seven starts.
The Mountain Hawks are currently eighth in the Patriot League standings with six points as one point separates them from the fifth seed. Lehigh has three games remaining against PL opponents and are in position to capture one of the six conference playoff spots.
Lehigh returns to action on Wednesday in a rivalry game at Lafayette. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
