BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's basketball team used a strong second half to pull away from Boston University and capture a 72-48 win over the Terriers Saturday afternoon on Play 4Kay day in Stabler Arena. The Mountain Hawks capture their fourth-straight win and improve to 8-0 all-time in Lehigh's Pink Game. Lehigh improves to 13-7 overall and 6-3 in Patriot League play, while BU falls to 1-19 overall and 1-8 in league action.

With 920 fans in attendance for the Play 4Kay game, $920 dollars will be donated to the fight against breast cancer on behalf of CrossAmerica Partners, Dunne Manning and City Center Lehigh Valley.

"This is a really special game for our team every year," said head coach Sue Troyan. "It was a wonderful day for a wonderful cause. There's always a lot of emotional energy because our girls know they're playing for something much bigger than themselves."

Sophomore Quinci Mann led the Mountain Hawks with 24 points behind a 9-for-14 showing from the field and 4-for-6 clip from three-point range. Junior Lexi Martins tallied her 16th double-double of the season with 18 points and 15 rebounds and also dished a team-best six assists. Freshman Hailey Pascoe drained three three-pointers to accumulate nine points, while seniors Amina Affini and Kerry Kinek followed with seven points apiece.

The Mountain Hawks drained 12 three-pointers, the most treys since Dec. 4, 2010 when Lehigh drained 13 three-pointers against Binghamton. The Mountain Hawks finished the game with a 44.4 percent (12-for-27) clip from downtown, 43.3 (26-for-60) field goal percentage and 80 percent (8-for-10) mark from the free throw line. Lehigh held BU to a 32.3 (20-for-62) field goal percentage and 33.3 percent (4-for-12) mark from downtown. Lehigh held a 43-33 rebound edge and scored 30 points off 16 BU turnovers.

"As a team we came together and played very unselfishly today," said Troyan. "We had a lot of offensive weapons today and really tightened things up on the defensive end. I thought Quinci played exceptionally today and it was great to see her have a big game like this."

The teams combined to go 0-for-8 to begin the game before a Terriers' jumper put BU on the board first with 7:15 on the clock, but Lehigh answered with back-to-back layups from Mann and Kinek to force the Terriers to call an early timeout. A Mann three-pointer followed to extend Lehigh's early lead, but the Terriers answered with the next eight points to pull ahead 10-7 at the 2:01 mark. A Martins three-pointer was followed by a fast-break layup from Mann to end the first quarter and give the Mountain Hawks a 12-10 advantage.

The Terriers tied the game at 12 just 15 seconds into the second term before a Mann jumper sparked a 7-0 Lehigh streak over the next two minutes to put the Mountain Hawks up 19-12. BU rattled off the next 11 points to jump back in front 23-19 with 4:42 to play in the half. The Terriers were still ahead by three at 27-24 with 1:44 on the clock, but a three-pointer from Pascoe was followed by a Kinek layup and Martins free throw as the first half expired and Lehigh was about to carry a 30-27 lead into the locker room.

Boston University scored the first basket of the second half to pull within one, but Lehigh answered with a 12-5 run over the next three minutes that was comprised entirely of three-pointers, two from Pascoe and one from both Mann and Martins, as the Mountain Hawks extended their lead to 42-34 with just over five minutes to play in the third quarter. Lehigh continued its streak by scoring the final eight points of the quarter and keeping BU off the board for the last five minutes of the term to take a 50-34 lead into the last quarter.

The Mountain Hawks converted four of their first five attempts from the floor to begin the fourth quarter and strung together a 10-4 run that helped Lehigh stretch its lead to 60-38 with 7:13 left in the game. Boston University wouldn't get any closer than 15 the rest of the way, as Lehigh was able to capture a 72-48 victory.

The Mountain Hawks will now hit the road for their next two games beginning with a 7 p.m. Wednesday matchup at Loyola before Lehigh travels to American at 2 p.m. Saturday. Both games can be viewed for free on the Patriot League Network.
