Earley and Zavocki named to Patriot League 25th Anniversary Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Former Lehigh field hockey greats Amy Earley '93 and Mary-Alice Zavocki '95 have been named to the Patriot League 25th Anniversary Team, as announced on Thursday. In total, eight schools who have participated in Patriot League competition are represented on the team.

Earley was a standout over her four-year career at Lehigh, including her last three seasons in the Patriot League (1990, 1991 and 1992). The league's Player of the Year in 1992, she earned All-Patriot League status in each of her last three years. She was named to the Patriot League All-Decade Team as well.

An impressive goalkeeper, Zavocki owns the three highest saves totals in Patriot League history, including a 450-save freshman season in 1990 which still stands as the NCAA record and is 39 more than any other player in NCAA history. Zavocki also tallied 309 saves in 1992 (second in league history), 305 saves in 1991 (third) and 209 saves in 1994 (tied for tenth). Zavocki by far and away leads the league's career record with 1,273, which is only 19 behind the top mark in NCAA history. She made 41 saves on Oct. 10, 1991 which stands as the league's all-time record for a single game. In 1991 and 1994, Zavocki earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year honors and first team All-League laurels. She was also the Patriot League Tournament MVP in the first-ever Patriot League Tournament in 1994. Zavocki made 27 saves in the final against Lafayette to keep the game scoreless before Lehigh won on strokes for the program's first league title.

The league will celebrate its 25th Anniversary throughout the season with coverage on its website and social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the new Patriot League Instragram account. Website coverage will feature stories on former student-athletes who excelled in the Patriot League and in their professional careers as well as pieces that chronicle 25 topics covering the history of the Patriot League and its member schools. Fans can follow and participate in social media coverage throughout the season by using #PL25.
