BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams will head to West Point, N.Y. Friday and Saturday to compete in the two-day Patriot League Championship meet at Army West Point's Shea Stadium. Action will begin at 9 a.m. Friday and continue through Saturday as both Mountain Hawk teams will be searching for their first-ever Patriot League Championship.

The Mountain Hawk women finished third at this year's indoor championship with 107 team points, trailing only champion Bucknell (180) and Boston University (112.50). The Lehigh women finish the meet with three event titles (pentathlon, high jump and 800 meter run), and three second-place finishes (pentathlon, high jump, 60 meter hurdles).  Junior Gabrielle Wardle was named the Field Athlete of the Meet after an impressive showing in three separate field events. She finished second in the pentathlon, second in the high jump and sixth in the long jump to secure 19 points for the Mountain Hawks during the indoor league championship meet.

The Lehigh men finished fifth at the indoor championship meet with 101 team points. Navy (228.50) claimed the team crown, while Bucknell (146.25), Boston University (136), Army West Point (104) and Lehigh rounded out the top five. The men finished the meet with two event titles (heptathlon and high jump), and three second-place finishes (long jump, triple jump, 4x400 meter relay). Freshman Trevor Knowles earned Rookie of the Meet honors after winning the heptathlon, making him the first-ever Lehigh male to win the award at the indoor championship.

Sophomore Courtney Avery, the defending high jump champion, owns the best mark in the Patriot League in the event during the outdoor season, while sophomore Brittany Le Jouan and Wardle are both in the top four. Senior Carly Deskins has recorded the league's best mark in the javelin, while senior Natalie Bates and Wardle have turned out the top two heptathlon marks. Senior Victoria Mullane has turned out the league's second-best 800 meter run performance of the outdoor season, while classmate Hannah Pierce owns the second-best 3,000 meter steeplechase time. Sophomore Katie Hatler heads into this weekend with the third-best time in the 100 meter hurdles

Senior Ryan Mahalsky holds the best 10,000 meter run time and second-best 5,000 meter mark in the Patriot League this season. Sophomore Daniel Boardman sits atop the league leaderboard in the long jump and has turned out the league's third-best high jump of the outdoor season. Senior Benjamin Beauchamp has recorded top-five marks in both the discus and hammer throws, while Knowles has put up the second-best decathlon score.
First team All-Patriot League status goes to the winners of each event, while second place finishers comprise the second-team All-League squads. Head coaches will vote following the conclusion of the championship on Male and Female Track Athlete, Field Athlete, Rookie and Coach of the Year honors.

After the league championship meet, those Mountain Hawks that have qualified will head to the ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Championships from May 15-17 at Princeton.
