Complete Patriot League Release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a strong season on the field and in the classroom, Lehigh junior defenseman Casey Eidenshink has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced on Wednesday. Also a second team All-League honoree, Eidenshink led the Mountain Hawks in groundballs (50) and caused turnovers (23).
Â
Eidenshink owns a strong 3.38 cumulative GPA as an Accounting major. He is one of three players on the team's academic council, which is set up to foster collective academic success amongst the team. Eidenshink has been named to the Dean's List for a semester GPA over 3.6. He was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and has earned the Faculty Athletics Council Award.
Â
Eidenshink is one of seven Patriot League student-athletes named to both the All-League and Academic All-League teams. He posted multiple groundballs in all but two games this season, playing his best lacrosse down the stretch. Over Eidenshink's last five games, he tallied 11 caused turnovers, including two in the Patriot League Quarterfinals at Bucknell on Tuesday. On Apr. 12, he shut down the nation's leading goal-scorer Brody Eastwood (who entered with 50 goals over his first 12 games), holding him to just one goal on only two shots. Eidenshink was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week in February after three groundballs and four caused turnovers in a win over Boston University.
Â
The award continues a string of academic success for the Mountain Hawks, who have eclipsed a 3.0 team GPA for three straight semesters.
Â
Lehigh ended its season at 7-9, advancing to its fifth straight Patriot League Tournament appearance. The senior class tied last year's class as the winningest in program history, advancing to four league tournaments and winning two championships. After a tough 2-7 start, the Mountain Hawks ended the year winning five of their last seven games, including back-to-back wins over nationally-ranked opponents Princeton and Stony Brook.
