Bausher repeats as Patriot League Pitcher of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second week in a row, Lehigh senior Emily Bausher has been named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Bausher pitched ten scoreless innings over Lehigh's first four games at the Rebel Spring Games in Winter Haven, Florida Saturday and Sunday.

Bausher's week began with her second consecutive complete game shutout, a four-hitter against Presbyterian on Sunday in which she struck out ten and did not walk a batter. It marked Bausher's 17th career complete game shutout and her second double-digit strikeout game in three starts this season.

Sunday against Akron, Bausher came on in the fifth inning to throw three innings of scoreless one-hit relief and earned her fourth victory of the season as Lehigh walked off with a 2-1 victory. Bausher struck out four of the ten batters she faced against the Zips.

The ten scoreless innings on the weekend increased Bausher's stream of consecutive scoreless innings to 22. The streak reached 27 before Bausher gave up four runs to Creighton in the sixth inning of a 4-0 loss on Monday.

For the season, the New Egypt, N.J. native is now 4-1 with a 1.40 earned run average. Bausher has struck out 33 batters and walked just six in 30 innings of work.

Also on Monday, junior Morgan Decker garnered an honorable mention from the league. Decker batted .500 (5-for-10) in the first four games of Lehigh's Florida trip with two doubles, a home run and five runs batted in. She belted her first home run of the season and 19th of her career in Lehigh's 9-1, six-inning win over Florida A&M on Sunday.

The Mountain Hawks (8-2) extended their winning streak to seven with a 1-0 win over Niagara on Monday before falling to Creighton 4-0 later in the day. After an off day Tuesday, Lehigh will face Georgetown (2:30 p.m.) and USF (5 p.m.) Wednesday at USF Softball Stadium in Tampa.
