
Mountain Hawks wrap up season at Holy Cross and Brown

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team will look to wrap up the 2015 campaign with a strong finish when the Mountain Hawks hit the road for a pair of games this weekend. Lehigh will close out Patriot League play Saturday (11 a.m.) at Holy Cross and conclude its season with a matinee at Brown Sunday (12 p.m.).
Saturday's Holy Cross game will not be streamed online; fans can follow along with live stats. Sunday's contest can be viewed through the Ivy League Network. A one-day Ivy League Network pass can be purchased for $9.95.
The Mountain Hawks enter their final weekend with a mark of 4-12 overall and 1-4 in the Patriot League. Lehigh is coming off a 1-1 weekend that included a thrilling victory over Colgate in overtime Saturday. Junior Kassidy Green scored 3:06 into the extra session to give the Mountain Hawks the dramatic 2-1 win. Junior Marissa Glass also added a goal while junior goalkeeper Julia Ward tallied five saves. The Mountain Hawks were then defeated 7-0 at the hands of Cornell on Sunday. Cornell took a 1-0 lead at the 10:32 mark then added three more goals in the span of 8:57 before reaching halftime. Ward had 11 saves in the loss.
Along with Colgate, Lehigh has also defeated Siena, Davidson, and Sacred Heart this fall with several other close calls, including competitive contests against every Patriot League opponent. Freshman Teresa Carotenuto has anchored the Mountain Hawks' offense all year as her team-high nine goals are tied for second in the Patriot League. Carotenuto is the team leader in points (18) while senior Lindsey Schott and junior Gabby Tofig are tied for the team lead in assists (4).
Defensively, junior Janelle High leads the Patriot League in defensive saves with four and Ward ranks second in the league with 97 saves. Ward has also accumulated a goals against average of 3.11 and save percentage of .669.
Holy Cross enters the game in a must-win situation in order to clinch a berth for the Patriot League Tournament. The Crusaders sit at 2-4 (8-9 overall) in the Patriot League, tied with Lafayette for fourth place. They are led by reigning Patriot Player of the Week Maureen Connolly. Connolly scored two goals on Saturday to propel Holy Cross to a crucial 3-2 victory over Lafayette. Connolly has tallied a team-high 26 points on the season behind 10 goals and six assists. Goalkeeper Megan Inch has accumulated a save percentage of .653 and goals against average of 2.53. The Crusaders followed their Lafayette victory with a Wednesday win over Dartmouth.
Holy Cross leads the all-time series 17-9, but the Mountain Hawks have won four out of the last six matchups, including a 4-1 victory last fall.
Brown comes into the game with an overall mark of 6-8. The Bears are 1-1 against Patriot Leagues teams this season, suffering a 4-1 defeat to American early in their first game of the year, but beating Holy Cross in a 4-3 thriller a couple weeks later. Hannah Rogers and Alexis Miller anchor the team offensively with their team-high six goals. Katie Hammaker has played every single minute in goal this season and has tallied 80 saves to go along with a 2.75 goals against average and .672 save percentage.
Brown leads the all-time series with Lehigh, 2-1. The Bears defeated the Mountain Hawks 4-2 last season.
