
Mountain Hawks close out first half of league play Wednesday against Bucknell

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Lehigh women's basketball team looks to pull away from a pack of Patriot League teams that hold a 5-3 league record when the Mountain Hawks host Bucknell Wednesday night. Both teams have already secured 13 wins so far this season and hold a 5-3 record in Patriot League play. Tipoff from Stabler Arena is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be viewed locally on Service Electric and free online via the Patriot League Network.
Lehigh used a 19-9 run during the middle of the second half and held off a late Leopard rally to secure a 65-60 victory over rival Lafayette Sunday afternoon inside Stabler Arena. Freshman Quinci Mann led Lehigh with 15 points, all of which came in the second half. Senior Sarah Williams and junior Elizabeth Sharlow each tallied 11 points, while sophomore Lexi Martins finished with nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Williams finished with a team-best five assists.
The Mountain Hawks finished the game shooting 33.9 percent (20-for-59) from the field, 13.3 percent (2-for-15) from three-point range and 65.7 percent (23-for-35) from the charity stripe. Lehigh held Lafayette to a 27.9 (19-for-68) field goal percentage and 30.4 percent (7-for-23) showing from downtown. The Mountain Hawks held a 53-44 rebound edge.
Martins leads the team with 15.1 points per game and a league-leading 11.3 rebounds per contest. Senior Katie O'Reilly has contributed a team-best 14.5 points per game in Patriot League contests. Junior Kerry Kinek contributed 12.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest, while Williams leads the team with 48 assists.
The Mountain Hawks lead the league in scoring offense with an average of 71.6 points per game. Lehigh ranks second in field goal percentage (44.1 percent) and rebounding margin (+7.5). The only Patriot League team with a larger rebounding edge is Bucknell (+9.5).
Bucknell and Lehigh currently sit in a tie with two other teams for second place in the Patriot League standings with a 5-3 league mark. The Bison have won their last two games and three of the team's last four contests.
Sophomore Claire DeBoer scored a career-high 27 points on a perfect 8-for-8 mark from the field to lead the Bucknell to a 72-56 win over visiting Boston University on Saturday in the team's most recent game. Bucknell didn't pull away until midway through the second half. Leading 42-41 with 13:31 left in the game, the Bison went on an 8-0 run over the next 2:22 to up its lead to 50-41. DeBoer scored five points during the stretch, while sophomore Megan McGurk hit one of her three 3-pointers.
Audrey Dotson leads the team with 13.2 points per game and 46 assists, while DeBoer holds a team-best 8.6 rebounds per contest mark. Claire Maree O'Bryan leads the team with 28 made three-pointers. The Bison are the only team in the Patriot League to hold a higher rebound margin than Lehigh as Bucknell has outrebounded opponents by an average of 9.5 boards per game. The Bison hold a +6.2 scoring margin to go along with their 13-6 overall record. Bucknell is 6-4 away from home so far this season.
Lehigh looks to snap a two-game losing streak to the Bison tonight and pull ahead in the all-time series that currently sits at 41-34 in favor of the Mountain Hawks.
The Bison won both of last season's meetings, the most recent being an 87-78 decision on Feb. 26, 2014 inside Stabler Arena. Despite 20-plus point performances from Sharlow and Kinek, the Bison were able to walk away with the win thanks to four players in double digits.
Sharlow led Lehigh with a career-high 24 points, crushing her previous personal best by nine points. Kinek recorded her second double-double in three games with 21 points and ten rebounds. Elizabeth Jordan was the next highest scorer with eight points. Dotson led Bucknell with 19 points.

The Bison shot 60.7 percent (17-for-28) in the second half and 50.7 percent (35-for-69) for the game. Bucknell held a 43-37 rebound advantage.
