
Mountain Hawks head to Lafayette for Wednesday night showdown

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Standing 1-0-1 in Patriot League play, the Lehigh women's soccer team travels to Lafayette on Wednesday for the next chapter of the Lehigh-Lafayette rivalry. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Easton. The Mountain Hawks look to remain undefeated in league play while snapping a three-game losing streak to the Leopards.

Lehigh is coming off a hard-fought scoreless tie at Bucknell on Friday. Junior Ani Nahapetian made eight saves, including some spectacular stops, to earn Patriot League Goalie of the Week honors for the second time in her career. Both teams created quality offensive chances as the Mountain Hawks held a 17-13 edge in shots, with eight shots on goal apiece. Senior Darby Wiegand and freshman Grace Correll each tallied a team-high three shots.

The Mountain Hawks haven't allowed a goal through two league games and are currently riding a shutout streak of 247:02. Juniors Paige Elliott and Emily Korber impressed at left and right back last Friday while classmate Madi Morgan played a strong defensive midfield. Offensively, Wiegand leads the team with seven points while Correll has six.

Lafayette enters with a 3-6-0 record and 0-2-0 league mark. The Leopards are coming off a 4-0 defeat at Navy and 2-0 loss to Colgate. The Leopards began the season with wins at Saint Peter's and North Florida, but have only won one game since (vs. UMass-Lowell). Alyssa Finelli leads Lafayette offensively with three goals and six points while four others have scored a goal. Kaelin King also has an assist for three points. Danielle Sedillo has seen the majority of time in goal, starting eight times, with a 1.33 goals against average and .730 save percentage.

Lehigh leads the all-time series, 14-7-2. Lafayette has won three straight after a nine-game Mountain Hawks' winning streak. Lehigh won the first-ever meeting on Oct. 19, 1991 by a 2-1 final.
