Mountain Hawks fall to Temple, 5-2

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's tennis team grabbed the doubles point, but Temple responded by winning five of the six singles matches to down the Mountain Hawks 5-2 on Thursday. Junior Ben Gilman earned Lehigh's lone singles victory at #1 while also teaming with sophomore Jeremy Kochman for a victory at #2 doubles.
 
Senior Mark Goldberg and junior Mitchell Petersen won at #1 doubles, 8-7 (1). Bilman and Kochman picked up an 8-3 win at #2 doubles over Nicolas Paulus and Hicham Belkssir to help Lehigh earn the doubles point.
 
Gilman topped Paulus at #1 singles, 6-4, 6-3, but that marked Lehigh's final point of the day. Freshman Ethan Bogard did go to three sets at #6 singles, but fell to Santiago Canete, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
 
The clinching point came at #5 singles as Temple's Hernan Vasconez defeated senior Timur Chernykh 6-3, 6-4.
 
Lehigh returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Philadelphia to face Saint Joseph's.
