BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In its first match in more than two weeks, the Lehigh men's tennis team fell to Army in its Patriot League opener 6-1 Saturday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. Junior Ben Gilman won at No. 2 singles for Lehigh's only point as the Mountain Hawks fall to 8-6 on the season. Army is now 14-4 and 4-0 in Patriot League games.

The match began with Army sweeping the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. The closest of the three matches was at the No. 2 flight as Gilman and sophomore Jeremy Kochman lost 8-5 to Asika Isoh and Alex Van Velzer.

Isoh extended the Black Knights' lead with a 6-4, 6-0 win over senior Mark Goldberg at the top singles flight. Gilman then put Lehigh on the board with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Sam Lampman at No. 2 singles.

Army's Caison Best defeated Tyler Hansen 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 4 flight and the Black Knights clinched the match at No. 3 singles as Grant Riechmann beat Kochman. The Lehigh sophomore lost the first set 6-2 before rallying to win the second set in a tiebreak, but Riechmann won the third set 6-4 to clinch the match.

The Black Knights also captured the bottom two singles flights with Van Velzer downing freshman Ethan Bogard in straight sets and then Harrison McCormick rallying from a set down to beat senior Timur Chernykh in a ten point tiebreak at No. 5 singles.

The Mountain Hawks will travel to Saint Joseph's on Monday for a non-league match with first serves set for 3 p.m.
