Mountain Hawks host Fordham for non-league Tuesday match

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team faces a quick turnaround Tuesday when the Mountain Hawks welcome Fordham into Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall for a non-league tilt. First serve is set for 7 p.m. and free video will be available on the Patriot League Network.
Lehigh looks to bounce back after suffering its first Patriot League loss of the season Saturday at Colgate. The Mountain Hawks won the first two sets, but the Raiders rallied to take the next three on the way to a 3-2 victory. The loss snapped Lehigh's six-match winning streak. The Mountain Hawks carries an 11-8 overall mark, including a 6-1 clip in the Patriot League, into Tuesday's non-league game against Fordham.
Senior Jade Van Streepen leads Lehigh with 163 kills so far this season, while junior Stephanie Slater (151) and sophomore Morgan Lowe (148) follow close behind. Junior Amy Matula leads the squad with 623 assists and is only 94 assists away from entering the top five on Lehigh's all-time career leaders list. Sophomore Mariah Brantley has tallied a league-best 353 digs while sophomore Taylor Carroll and freshman Kelly Bennett are tied for the team lead with 36 blocks apiece.
Fordham carries a 1-16 record into Tuesday's match and is coming off its first win of the season Saturday. The Rams cruised to a 3-0 win over A10 foe La Salle with the help of 12 kills from Brianna O'Neil and ten from Lisa Hipp. Twelve of Fordham's 16 losses have been straight-set defeats.
The Rams are hitting just .079 as a team this season. Hipp leads the squad with 148 kills, followed by Brennan Delsing with 119 kills. Abigail Konovodoff has notched a team-best 397 assists, while Grace Muller leads the squad in digs with 167.
This will be the first meeting between Lehigh and Fordham since 1994. The Mountain Hawks hold a 13-4 all-time advantage over the Rams.
Following Tuesday's non-league tune-up, Lehigh hits the road for a 7 p.m. Friday contest at defending league champion American. It will be a battle for the top spot in the league standings as the Eagles sit at 4-0 while second-place Lehigh holds a 6-1 record.
