Lehigh women swim past Rider to improve to 3-1

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a strong win Friday night over West Chester, the Lehigh women's swimming and diving team swam past Rider Saturday afternoon by a score of 204-83 at Jacobs pool.

"We set this weekend up with two strong teams to simulate the kind of energy needed at our championships" said head coach Rob Herb

The Mountain Hawks were led by sophomore Kaitlyn Ruffing, who picked up two more wins on the weekend today against Rider in the 50 free (24.02) and the 100 free (52.62). Senior Alissa Leung showed an impressive effort today as well, winning the 100 back (58.38) and 200 back (2:06.25).

In addition, junior Courtney Patterson led the distance events winning the 1000 free (10:29.85) The Koch sisters added to Lehigh's success as well, with freshman Julianne winning the 200 free and junior Carolyn leading off the winning 400 free relay team with a 52.5 second split.

The relays also went very smoothly for Lehigh as the Mountain Hawks captured both the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay.

Freshman Emily Speakman competed well against Rider's divers, finishing in second place in both the one meter and three meter diving events.

Lehigh (3-1) will next compete at Colgate on Saturday, November 1.
