
Mountain Hawks travel to Colgate for Saturday meet

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. on Saturday to take on Colgate. The meet is slated for a 1 p.m. start from Colgate's Lineberry Natatorium as both Mountain Hawk squads seek their second road victory of the season.
The Lehigh men are coming off two tough home losses last weekend against West Chester and Rider. The Mountain Hawks were led by the sophomore duo of Jacob Moyar and Jamal Willis. Against West Chester, Moyar took home a pair of individual events and was also part of the winning 400 free relay teaj as well. Moyar rounded out his weekend with two more individual wins against Rider. Willis finished first in the 50 free against both West Chester and Rider. The men have competed well in four meets this season but currently stand at 1-3.
On the women's side, sophomore Kaitlyn Ruffing captured a first place finish in every race she swam last weekend. Her impressive performances against the Golden Rams and Broncs resulted in her second Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week award this seson. The Mountain Hawks beat West Chester by a score of 213-80 and Rider by a score of 204-83 to improve to 3-1 in duals. Junior Courtney Patterson also chipped in, winning three individual events this weekend. Patterson won the 500 free and the 200 IM against West Chester and the 1000 free against rider. After falling in their season-opener at Boston University the Mountain Hawk women are looking for their fourth straight victory on the young season.
The Colgate Raiders split their first meet of season last week against St. Bonaventure. The men suffered a 230-61 loss while the women defeated the Bonnies 165-122. The men will look for their first win in their home opener against Lehigh while the women will hope to increase their mark to 2-0.
Last season Lehigh swept the meet against Colgate, which was highlighted by the Lehigh women's first win over the Raiders since 2004. The Lehigh men will look to extend their winning streak against Colgate to 21.
Following Saturday's meet, the Mountain Hawks will shift focus to the big rivalry meet with Lafayette set for Friday November 21 at Lehman College in the Bronx, N.Y. The Lehigh-Lafayette meet will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.
