Field Hockey preseason poll announced

Complete Patriot League Release

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Patriot League field hockey preseason poll was released on Thursday with the Mountain Hawks coming in seventh. The league welcomes newcomer Boston University who topped the poll with 71 points and 11 first-place votes.

Following BU were American (59 points), defending champion Lafayette (56), Bucknell (42), Colgate (27), Holy Cross (20) and Lehigh (19). The Mountain Hawks are eying their second Patriot League Tournament appearance in the last three years and third in the last five seasons. The top four seeds will qualify.

Also announced were the Patriot League Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, and Preseason All-Patriot League Team.

The Mountain Hawks are deep into preseason practice in preparation for their 2013 opener next Friday, Aug. 30 against Fairfield. Gametime is set for 6 p.m.
