Michalek, Mountain Hawks lead Patriot League Championship after day one

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With senior Chelsea Michalek leading the way, the Lehigh women's golf team is off to a strong start after day one of the inaugural Patriot League Championship on the Bucknell Golf Course. Michalek holds a seven stroke lead over two players after the opening 36 holes, while as a team the Mountain Hawks lead the four team field by five strokes over second place Bucknell.
Lehigh shot 315 as a team in the morning and followed up with a 317 in the afternoon to finish day one at 632. Bucknell is second at 317
-320-637 while Navy (352-351-703) and Holy Cross (365-372-737) are well off the pace.
Michalek opened with a 73, which tied for the low round of the day, and followed up with a 78 to sit at 151 after 36 holes. She was the only player to break 80 in both rounds on Saturday. Senior Ginette Schapira is tied for second place with Bucknell's Bridget Wilcox at 158. Schapira shot 80 in the morning and 78 in the afternoon.
Freshman Nicole Feierberg and sophomore Kelly Moylan are tied for sixth place at 163. Feierberg opened with a 79 and finished with an 84 while Moylon carded an 84 in the morning and a 79 in the afternoon.
Junior Crystal Lee is the fifth Mountain Hawk in the top ten as she is tied for ninth at 83-82-165. Freshman Tess Jennings rounds out the Lehigh entrants with an 88-87-175 to tie for 14th. The Patriot League Championship format has each team utilizing six players with the top four counting towards the team score.
The Patriot League Championship concludes with the final 18 holes of play Sunday at the Bucknell Golf Course. The first tee times are set for 8 a.m.
