Lehigh finishes day two at Patriot League Championships in second place

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Lehigh men's track and field team finished the second day of competition at the Patriot League Championships in second place after collecting 33 points on the day. The Mountain Hawks picked up multiple top three performances, including a victory in the high jump by sophomore Adeolu Adesida, who set the Patriot League Championship record with a height 2.12m.
The final day of competition at West Point will begin at 10 a.m. inside Gillis Field House.
After finishing the first day of competition in the lead, junior Ryan Paquin placed third in the heptathlon with a final score of 4795 points, netting the Mountain Hawks six points. Paquin picked up wins in the 60 meter dash (7.33), long jump (6.67m) and the 60 meter hurdles (8.62).
In the 5000 meter run, junior Jimmy Miller picked up a fifth place finish with an IC4A-qualifying time of 14:40.62, while the 4x800 meter relay team of sophomore Daniel Paez, Gregory Caldwell, Christopher Watson and Mitchell Biler took third after crossing the line in 7:44.71, which also qualified them for the IC4A Championships.
Adesida's IC4A-qualifying jump eclipsed the previous record of 2.11 set in 1997 by Army's Jon Pontius and Lafayette's Matt Ruff, while fellow sophomore Derek Gaul placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.90m. With his jump Adesida became the first male Mountain Hawk to claim a Patriot League Championship in his respective event.
The Mountain Hawks will be back in action for the third and final day of the championships at 10 a.m. inside Gillis Field House in West Point, N.Y.
