BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse midfielder Jonathan Stumpf has added another award to an already long list of honors, garnering Capital One Academic All-America laurels, as announced on Tuesday. Named to the at-large third team, Stumpf is one of only six Division I men's lacrosse players in the nation recognized. He is also the Mountain Hawks' first-ever CoSida Academic All-American.

Stumpf becomes the first Academic All-American in Lehigh men's lacrosse history. The Mountain Hawks do have five previous USILA Scholar All-Americans, though, including Stumpf (2011), Evan Guerrero (2010), Tom Weiss (2006), Scott Carpenter (2003) and Mike Rabinovitz (2002). The only other men's lacrosse players named Academic All-Americans this season are: Brian Karalunas (Villanova), John Galloway (Syracuse), Jay Laing (Army), Matt Dolente (Johns Hopkins) and Johnathan Falcone (Yale).

The awards continue to roll in for Stumpf, who was recently named a Lowe's Senior First Team All-American and a USILA Scholar All-American. The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a member of the league's inaugural All-Academic Team, Stumpf cracked the Capital One Academic All-District II First Team, which made him eligible for All-America status. He also played in the USILA North-South All-Star Game on May 27 where he netted the eventual game-winning goal in the South's 15-11 victory.
Stumpf enjoyed a career year on the field, earning Second Team All-Patriot League laurels after posting a career high in goals (15), assists (10) and points (25) while firing a career-high 81 shots. The assist total stood fourth-most on the Mountain Hawks while he finished fifth in both goals and points. His highlight game came at Holy Cross when he netted his second-career hat trick in an 11-5 victory. He also had two goals and two assists in Lehigh's historic 14-10 victory over Navy.

One of three team captains, Stumpf's impact has gone far beyond the lacrosse field. He has posted a 3.88 cumulative GPA in the Integrative Business and Engineering Honors Program, one of the most challenging majors at Lehigh. He has played a key role in the team's leadership initiative, which includes experience in the Leadership Legacies program. In addition, Stumpf has helped spearhead the Mountain Hawks' community efforts, which includes elementary school visits, various community clean-ups, free community lacrosse clinics and more.
