BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh baseball team (9-6) earned its second-straight win on Saturday afternoon with a 6-3 victory over Iona. Jayme Edwards had a strong starting pitching performance for the Mountain Hawks, going six innings of three-run ball. Thomas O'Malley earned the victory in relief.
Lehigh trailed after six innings up play, 3-1. However, the Mountain Hawks stormed back to score five unanswered runs to pick up the victory. Austin Borden and Casey Turner led the way for the Brown and White, as they picked up three hits each. Brendan Pifer also had a nice game, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. O'Malley hurled two scoreless innings to pick up the win in relief.
Iona was the first team to get on the board, as it picked up runs in the first and second to take a 2-0 lead at that point. Edwards would settle down at that point, allowing just three hits and a run in his final four innings of pitching.
Lehigh put itself on the board in the fifth inning. Trailing 3-0, Austin Borden led off the inning with a single and then advanced to second on a fielder's choice. With two outs, Pifer singled to left field, scoring Borden to make the score 3-1 in favor of Iona.

The Mountain Hawks really began to put together the offense in the seventh inning, as Borden again led off with a single. Turner then followed with a single to move Borden over to third base. Pifer then drove Borden in on a fielder's choice to cut the Gaels' lead to 3-2. Brendan McGaheran then rocketed an RBI double to tie the game at three after seven innings of play.
In the eighth inning, the Mountain Hawks retook the lead as Logan Winchester singled in Andy Russell. Lehigh had a 4-3 lead. Winchester then stole third and scored on a wild pitch, to give Lehigh a 5-3 advantage. Borden scored another run on a turner single to put the Mountain Hawks ahead, 6-3.
Cory Kent came in and shut down the side in order to pick up the save.
Lehigh closes its series with Iona tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
