Mountain Hawks suffer tough setback to Central Michigan

DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Lehigh baseball team (4-5) was back in action and suffered a 15-3 loss to Central Michigan on Wednesday. The Chippewas scored runs in the first five innings and eight of the nine that were played.
Brendan McGaheran led the way for the Mountain Hawks, as he collected a team-high two hits on the day. Joe Abeln and Brandon Sady each had one hit and one RBI. Abeln's RBI came on his second homerun of the season in the fifth inning. Lehigh garnered 8 hits and two errors in the field for the game.
Lehigh, who was designated as the home team, was in a hole from the very beginning, trailing Central Michigan after the top half of the first inning. McGaheran responded in the bottom half, as he ledoff with a single. He then stole second and third base. As he stole third base, there was an error by the catcher, allowing him to score. Lehigh trailed 5-1 after one inning.

Central Michigan responded with one run in the second, two runs in the third, one in the fourth and two more in the fifth, making the score 11-1. Abeln belted a homerun in the bottom of the fifth to put the Mountain Hawks within nine. Lehigh scored its third and final run in the seventh inning, when Sady singled in Austin Borden.
The Mountain Hawks are back in action on Thursday against Toledo at 10 a.m.
