BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head men's lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese will serve as Team USA head coach in its Oct. 10 exhibition game at Harvard. The game is part of Stars & Stripes Weekend with a full weekend of events planned, highlighted by the U.S. Men's Senior National Team taking on the host Crimson that Sunday at 12 p.m.

“I am thrilled to sign on as the coach of the U.S. National team for the Stars and Stripes exhibition event,” said Cassese. “I have a tremendous sense of pride in our national team and in representing the red, white and blue. We have a terrific group of players that were assembled by US Lacrosse and I look forward to working with them this Sunday.”

The Team USA roster features a group of former collegiate standouts, including recent graduates (and national champions) like Max Quinzani and Steven Boyle, along with veterans such as Brian Dougherty, Matt Striebel, Ryan McClay and Shawn Nadelen. All but three of the 21-man roster is currently on a Major League Lacrosse team, including league most valuable player Paul Rabil, who had 37 points in 10 games for the Boston Cannons this summer. He was also MVP of the World Lacrosse Championships where he accumulated 16 goals and seven assists in seven games.

Cassese will coach nine players who suited up alongside him for Team USA over the summer. The squad participated in various exhibitions to prepare for the World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England, where it went on to win its first world championship since 2002. Voted a team co-captain along with Ryan Powell, Cassese had four goals and an assist in seven games and was player of the game during a 19-5 win over Japan.
Along with the holdovers are a number of new athletes who had standout performances during the tryout pool. Sunday will serve as one of numerous exhibition contests as Team USA attempts to defend its gold medal come 2014.

Tickets for the exhibition are $10 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 12 and members of US Lacrosse, with free admission for Harvard students with a valid ID. Tickets are now on sale at the Harvard Athletics Ticket Office, GoCrimson.com and by calling (617) 495-2211.

This game comes one day after Cassese will coach the Mountain Hawks against Fairfield and Towson at the Headstrong Tournament in Philadelphia.
