BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh’s thrilling 13-12 victory over No. 16 Army on March 17 was recently listed as an honorable mention selection for the top games of 2009 by Inside Lacrosse. Lehigh trailed the Black Knights by eight goals halfway through the third quarter of that contest, but the Mountain Hawks unleashed a furious rally to tie the score at 12 in the final minute of regulation. Freshman Cameron Lao-Gosney then put the finishing touches on a brilliant performance, scoring his fifth and final goal with 1:34 remaining in overtime to lift the Brown and White to a dramatic 13-12 come-from-behind win over the Black Knights.
Lao-Gosney and classmate Adam Johnston combined for nine goals in the game, while senior Ricky Cornetta added two as Lehigh earned its first Patriot League victory of the season. For their efforts, Cornetta and Lao-Gosney earned Patriot League Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week accolades, respectively.
The number-one game as ranked by Inside Lacrosse for the 2009 season was the epic seven-overtime contest between Maryland and Virginia played on March 28 in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers outlasted the Terrapins 8-7 in the game.
