STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Mountain Hawks gave up eight goals in the first period and were never able to recover as they fell to the Stony Brook Seawolves, 16-6, on Wednesday afternoon at LaValle Stadium.  Chris Lubin and Max Dahlem both scored two goals apiece for the Brown and White, while Stony Brook received four goals from Kevin Crowley and Jordan McBride.  With the loss, Lehigh drops to 0-4 on the season, while Stony Brook improves to 1-2 with its first win of the year.

Max Dahlem gave Lehigh an early 1-0 lead with a goal less than three minutes into the game, but the Seawolves scored eight straight in the first period to take a commanding lead after the opening 15 minutes. Crowley tallied a hat trick in the first quarter and tacked on one more to end the day with four scores and three assists for a game high seven points. Jordan McBride also scored four goals in the win and Kyle Belton put up five points on two goals and three assists.

Stony Brook scored two more goals to open the lead to 10-1 early in the second quarter before Dahlem ended the drought for the Mountain Hawks with his second goal.  Lubin and freshman Adam Johnston would add scores for Lehigh, but the Seawolves outscored the Mountain Hawks 4-3 in the second to take a 12-4 lead into halftime.

The Lehigh defense clamped down in the third quarter, holding the Seawolves scoreless for more than 10 minutes to open the half and holding them to just one goal in the period.  Lubin scored his second goal of the game to start the scoring for the Mountain Hawks in the quarter, which cut the lead to seven with 6:29 on the clock.  Each team scored a goal in the waning minutes as the squads went into the final frame with Stony Brook leading 13-6.

The Seawolves blasted home three more insurance goals in the fourth by McBride, Kyle Belton and Vonzel LeGall that put the game away for good. Charlie Paar earned the win in net for the Sea Wolves, making 13 saves and only giving up six goals.

Stony Brook out shot Lehigh 35-31 for the game, while both teams scooped up 43 ground balls.  Kyle Gentile led the Mountain Hawks with five GBs, while senior captain Dan Honeywell registered four and also caused four turnovers.  Will Scudder won seven-of-ten in the X, while a trio of Mountain Hawk goalies saw time, including Conor Murphy (two saves), Morgan Haller (five saves), and Dan Kaufman (one save).
