Simpkins announces women's golf class of 2013

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head women’s golf coach Roger Simpkins has announced four additions to the Mountain Hawks program for the 2009-10 academic year. The newest class includes Rosie Davies (London, England), Natalie Lansing (Dellwood, Minnesota), Chelsea Michalek (Glenview, Illinois), and Ginette Schapira (Montevideo, Uruguay).
Rosie Davies, who graduated high school last summer, is ranked third in her class with Level “A” examinations. She is currently attending the Hank Haney International Golf Academy in South Carolina as a postgraduate student. The IJGA is comprised of students from 28 states from across the United States and 25 countries worldwide. In addition to her successes on the golf course, Davies enjoyed a high level of success on the soccer pitch having played for two of the premier league clubs in Great Britain, Arsenal and Fulham.
Natalie Lansing currently attends Mounds Park Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is a multi-sport athlete who participates in golf, basketball and soccer, and has earned 14 varsity letters throughout high school. A First-Team All-Conference selection, Lansing won the Class A State Golf Tournament. In the classroom she carries a 3.8 grade point average and is a member of the National Honor Society.
One of the top players in both the Chicago area and the entire state of Illinois, Chelsea Michalek attends Loyola Academy. She won three tournaments during the summer of 2008 in the Illinois Junior Golf Association and has a pair of top-ten finishes at the Illinois High School Championships to her credit. Michalek shot a 74 in the Illinois State Junior Championships at Cog Hill and has extensive national junior golf experience.
The final member of Lehigh’s Class of 2013 is Ginette Schapira who attends Escuela Integral Uruguay. She is the reigning Uruguay National Champion and three time National Junior Champion. Schapira represented Uruguay in six South American Golf Championships and other various international championships. In addition to golf Schapira is ranked first in her class and is a member of the Mathematics National Olympic Team.
