Lehigh places second and third at championships

Lewisburg, PA – The Patriot League Swimming & Diving Championships have concluded and, as expected, Lehigh posted a strong showing. The men posted a second place finish with a 632.5 point total, while the 520 point total for the women was good enough for third place. It was a very successful championship weekend for both squads as twelve school records fell over the course of the championships. On the women’s side Saturday, Missy Capone broke the school record in the 100-yard freestyle with a preliminary time of :53.42 and a finals time of :53.07. Bing Padmasankha also broke the school record in the 100-yard freestyle, managing a preliminary time of :45.91 and a finals time of :45.63. Overall, Lehigh placed within the top five on fourteen separate occasions, including two top two finishes. The 2002-03 swimming & diving season has come to an end. The men finish the season 6-5 overall, 2-2 in the Patriot League, while the women finish 6-6 overall, 2-3 in the Patriot League. Select individual swimmers will next compete in the ECAC Championships held February 27-March 1.
