Eight Mountain Hawks named to honor roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Led by senior Lisa Sweeney, the 2009 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Lehigh placed eight student-athletes on the league’s softball Academic Honor Roll, which was announced on Monday. Sweeney capped off a career in which she won virtually every league award imaginable by earning her fourth straight honor roll nod, by posting a 3.88 grade point average as a history major in the spring semester.
To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must obtain a 3.2 GPA and be awarded a varsity letter in his/her sport. A total of 45 softball student-athletes were named to the honor roll.
While Sweeney captured the league’s Scholar-Athlete Award, fellow senior and captain Alisha Gonzales led the way for the Mountain Hawks as she was one of five softball student-athletes to earn a 4.0 GPA in the spring semester. Gonzales was a double major in psychology and women’s studies.
Joining Sweeney and Gonzales on the Academic Honor Roll were seniors Whitney Lowe and Ali Torborg; sophomores Bri Gaumer and Carly Potock; and freshmen Jen Colquhoun and Julie Fernandez.
