LVAIAW award for Sweeney

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Three Lehigh student-athletes picked up awards on Tuesday afternoon at the annual Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (LVAIAW) awards luncheon, held at Starters Riverport. Seniors Lisa Sweeney and Sarah Serwo, along with sophomore Erica Prosser were honored for their accomplishments in their respective sports, as Sweeney earned the Outstanding Athlete Award for Lehigh University, Serwo was named the Lehigh Valley’s Outstanding Track Athlete and Prosser received the Lehigh Valley’s Outstanding Women’s Basketball Athlete award.
The 2009 Patriot League Softball Scholar Athlete of the Year as well as the league’s Pitcher of the Year, Sweeney is a four-time First-Team All-Patriot League selection and school record holder in strikeouts and wins for a pitcher, and home runs as a hitter. Sweeney has 90 career wins and nearly 900 strikeouts during her storied career in the circle and has won a pair of Patriot League Tournament MVP awards as well.
Serwo holds five school records, including the indoor and outdoor 800-meters, and is a four-time All-Patriot League selection. A 2008 Academic All-American Serwo qualified for the NCAA East Regionals a season ago and earned All-East recognition at the 2008 ECAC Outdoor Championship. Serwo has won three individual Patriot League titles, including the indoor and outdoor 800, and the indoor 1,000, and has qualified for the ECAC Championships four times during her career.
Prosser earned the 2009 Patriot League Women’s Basketball Player of the Year trophy as just a sophomore during this past season as she helped lead the Mountain Hawks to the league title. A First-Team All-League selection, Prosser led the PL in scoring during league play at 15.9 points per game, and she also finished the season ranked second in assists and third in steals. Prosser earned four Patriot League Player of the Week awards throughout the course of the season as well.
