Lehigh held its annual fall sports banquet on Sunday, January 18 inside the University Center on the Packer Campus. Three Lehigh players captured awards on the afternoon, in a program that included dinner, presentation of three awards, and reflections from the coach and members of the team. Senior captain Blaire Goodwin captured the Athlete of the Year Award. The Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. Goodwin led the team in scoring for the third consecutive season and was named to the All-Patriot League’s First Team as well as the STX/NFHCA All-Region team, both for the second consecutive season. She leaves Lehigh as one of the most prolific goal scorers to ever don the brown and white, having compiled 26 goals and nine assists, good for 61 points in her career. The Scholar-Athlete Award goes to the student-athlete who in the eyes of his/her teammates exemplifies the ideal of the scholar-athlete. This year’s winner was senior captain Kirsten Wyche. The neuroscience/pre-med major posted a GPA of 3.61 this past semester and carries an overall GPA of 3.26. Senior captain Emily Beil won the Coaches Award at the banquet. The Coaches Award is presented to the individual who made significant contributions to the well being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement, or special leadership. Beil started every game for the Mountain Hawks this season and improved as the year wore on.
