Lehigh falls to league foe American 2-1

Bethlehem, PA – American University, one of the top teams in the Patriot League, upended Lehigh Saturday afternoon 2-1, at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The loss is the seventh in a row for the Mountain Hawks as they fall to 2-7 overall, 0-2 in league play. With the win, American improves to 5-4 overall 1-1 in league play.
Lehigh got on the scoreboard first as Blaire Goodwin scored off a pass from Lisa Nichols on a penalty corner. Trailing 1-0, American answered back less than one minute later. Magdalena Aguilar notched the game-tying goal on a penalty stroke. With the score tied at 1-1, American would post the go ahead goal eight minutes into the second half. Aguilar picked up her second goal of the game, this time off a pass from Kate Finn.
"We played well and showed a lot of hustle against a very good team," said head coach Michelle Finegan. "We can take a lot from this game and build on it for the future," added Finegan.
Lehigh returns to action Wednesday, on the road, vs. Monmouth. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
