BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team announced its 2010 captains and its 2009 Major Award winners on Friday at the team’s annual banquet. Seniors Evan Guerrero, Max Copelan and Brian Bienemann and junior Richard Bradley were named captains by head coach Kevin Cassesse. “So far this fall, I have been pleased with the overall leadership of this team,” Cassese said.  “I believe there are several members of the senior, junior and sophomore classes that are more than capable of being team captains, and the player voting reflected that. In the end, I am proud to announce four outstanding young men as team captains in the 2009-10 campaign.”

Guerrero, a defenseman, started all 15 games as a junior, recording two goals and one assist. He earned a spot on the All-Patriot League Teams after leading the team in caused turnovers with 39 and finishing second in ground balls with 42. As a sophomore, Guerrero started all 15 games and scooped up 20 groundballs. His rookie season, Guerrero appeared in eight games while starting two and he scooped up five ground balls. Guerrero was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor roll as a junior and a sophomore.

Midfielder Max Copelan sat out the 2009 season and has seen action in three games during the course of his career, once as a sophomore and twice as a freshman. Copelan is poised to have a breakout season for the Mountain Hawks as a senior captain.

Attackman Brian Bienemann started in two games during his sophomore and junior seasons. In 2009, he saw playing time in all 15 games and scored 21 goals to go along with six assists. In 2008, Bienemann saw action in 10 games and scored six goals while adding one assist.  He was named a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll after the 2009 season.

Junior long-stick midfielder Richard Bradley appeared in ten games while starting eight as a sophomore and he recorded four goals and one assist while scooping up 31 groundballs. During his rookie season, Bradley appeared in 15 games and started in nine. He added five goals, with his first coming against Drexel and also scooped up 38 groundballs on the season.
