BETHLEHEM Pa. – Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese will make his return to the field as a player this weekend, as he rejoins the Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse for a critical late season matchup with the Boston Cannons. Cassese will be back on the playing field for the first time since early June after being limited to just two games this season due to his responsibilities as head coach of the Mountain Hawks.

“I’m excited to get back on the field and to contribute to a major playoff push in the final days of the regular season,” said Cassese. “I’m very appreciative of the Barrage management for allowing me to take care of my responsibilities at Lehigh and welcoming me back into the team.”

Cassese was traded to Philadelphia in June 2007 and helped lead the Barrage to a second consecutive MLL title last August. With two games remaining in the regular season, Philadelphia is tied with Boston for second place in the Eastern Conference with a 6-4 record. After spending the spring guiding the Mountain Hawks to a 6-9 record in his first season as head coach, Cassese has spent the summer months on the recruiting trail and will now rejoin the Barrage for a late season playoff push.

With Cassese back on board, the Barrage will face Boston Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Harvard Stadium. The game has been selected as the ESPN2 game of the week, and will air on the network Tuesday August 5, at 3 p.m.
