Lehigh was out shot 47-33 on the day and scooped up 32 ground balls, led by Mike Tabb and Colin Mistele’s four. Tabb was four-of-eight on face offs, while Kyle Gentile won three-of-eight in the X. Lehigh was 19-of-24 on clear attempts and senior Dusty Granet, who got the start in goal, sent back six shots in 30 minutes of action, before giving way to Eric Spriko, who recorded three saves. Notre Dame goal keeper Joey Kemp made eight saves in 37 minutes, before Scott Rodgers played the final 22 minutes and stopped ten shots.
Lehigh struggled on offense all afternoon long, as the Mountain Hawks were unable to score until the fourth quarter. The Irish netted two goals in the first, six in the second and two more in the third quarter, before Gaunt scored the first Brown and White goal of the day with 12:27 left on the clock. Hichborn added the second Mountain Hawk goal with just ticks remaining as Walsh assisted.
