Mountain Hawks overpowered by Vanderbilt

Lehigh was out shot 39-7 for the game, scooped up 15 ground balls and won ten draw controls. The Mountain Hawks were a perfect one-of-one on free position shots and forced ten Commodore turnovers.
Vanderbilt scored the game’s first four goals, to take a 4-0 lead at the 23:24 mark of the opening half. Senior Amy Chamberlain scored Lehigh’s first goal of the afternoon off of an assist from junior Christy Smith with 19:44 remaining in the opening half, but that was the only score Lehigh could muster in the opening 30 minutes of action.
In the second half, freshman Inneke Carmola scored on a free position shot with 22:52 to go, and MacIntyre scored back-to-back goals in a span of 2:14 at the 15:12 mark. However, Lehigh would not score again, and fell to 0-2 on the road this season. Freshman Jen Ingalls led the Brown and White with four ground balls, while sophomore Sarah Fudin scooped up three of her own. Smith won four draw controls for Lehigh and MacIntyre led the Mountain Hawks with four shots. Freshman Kelsy Ferris sent back eight Commodore shots in goal for Lehigh, before giving way to classmate Kaitlin Dean who registered five saves, while senior Vienna Pharoan handed out one assist.
Downing finished the game with five points for Vanderbilt, while Kendall Thrift netted two goals and dished out four assists in the winning effort. Brooke Shinaberry recorded three saves in goal for the home team, while Downing scooped up a team-best five ground balls and Sasha Cielak won four draw controls.
Lehigh returns to action on Wednesday, March 14 when the Mountain Hawks travel to
