The Mountain Haws wasted little time putting the game away as they scored touchdowns on their first three possessions to take a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. Sophomore Chris Bokosky made his first career start at quarterback, but it was McGowan who provided the first two scores for the Brown and White. McGowan capped off an eleven play drive with a seven yard touchdown run, and then added a two yard run to make it 14-0.
On the next Hoya drive, Matt Bassuener was intercepted by junior linebacker Tim Diamond, and on the very next play, Bokosky hooked up with senior tight end Joe Sutherland on a 24 scoring pass.
Bokosy spoke of his first career touchdown pass. "It felt great to get that first one." He added, "I was excited about getting the start today, and all week long the coaches and my teammates were so supportive of me. We got back to playing Lehigh football today."
In the second quarter, Lehigh extended its lead as junior fullback Adam Watson capped off a 13 play 74 yard drive with a one yard touchdown plunge. Jason Leo added a late 27 yard field goal and Lehigh led 31-0 at the break.
Bokosky was 3-of-8 for 50 yards in the air, as the Mountain Hawks opted to keep the ball on the ground, rushing 34 times for 184 yards as a team.
Senior captain Sedale Threatt took a handful of snaps in the second quarter then led Lehigh on an eight play 63 yard drive to open the third. Threatt ran the ball in from five yards out to make it 38-0 early in the third quarter.
Lehigh added a fourth quarter touchdown on a 27 yard screen pass from freshman J.B. Clark to senior Rich Forman.
Offensively, Lehigh rushed the ball 58 times for 307 yards and out gained
