Mountain Hawks snap road losing streak at Navy

Navy scored 40 points in the second half, as the Mids shot 50 percent in the last 20 minutes. Kina was the lone Midshipmen in double figures, as Greg Sprink added nine tallies. The Mids turned the ball over 16 times and were out rebounded by Lehigh 34-29.
“It’s nice to finally get that road win after coming so close on a number of occasions this season,” head coach Billy Taylor said afterwards. “Our seniors really carried us tonight as Jose and Kyle made timely shots, played great defense and demonstrated tremendous leadership.” He added, “It’s important to keep this momentum going now, as we go back on the road on Saturday at Army.”
Lehigh led right from the start as Bryan White hit a pair of free throws to put the Mountain Hawks in front 2-0, which began one of the best halves of basketball this season for the Brown and White. Lehigh shot 46 percent from the field and 55 percent from three-point range and headed into halftime with a 34-21 lead. Olivero led the Mountain Hawks with 11 points, including a three-of-four showing from downtown, while
Navy was led on offense by Kina who scored eight points and grabbed three rebounds. Adam Teague added five points, while Bryce Brigham pulled down a team-best four boards and dished out two assists.
In the second half Lehigh extended to a 15-point lead on a steal and lay up by Olivero, but Navy slowly chipped away and got to within four at the 12:05 mark on a jumper by Kina. Hall came down and sank a three to push the lead up to seven at 46-39 with 11:16 remaining. Navy would get as close as one point with 6:09 to go on a three by freshman Trey Stanton, but Lehigh responded as Olivero sank a jumper and Neptune scored on a lay up. Clutch free throw shooting and tight defense down the stretch enabled the Brown and White to win its first road game since February 11, 2006 and begin Patriot League play 2-0 for the fifth consecutive season.
Lehigh returns to action on Saturday afternoon when the Mountain Hawks hit the road yet again, this time traveling to
