VILLANOVA, Pa. – Senior Jeff King participated in the 2006 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) North-South Senior All-Star Classic on Friday evening, held on the campus of Villanova University, and helped lead the Division I and II squad to a dominating 17-6 victory over the Division III team.  King scooped up two ground balls and caused one turnover on the evening as the Division I and II All-Stars used five-goal quarters in the first and fourth to pull away for the win.

Hofstra’s Brett Moyer earned MVP honors in the game for his stifling defense, which included three caused turnovers, while Chris Martocchia of Albany netted a game-high three goals.

King established himself as one of the most dominant defensemen in the entire Patriot League this season, often drawing the opposition’s toughest assignment.  The New York native led the Brown and White in both ground balls (74) and caused turnovers (16), ranking within the top-15 nationally for ground balls per game.  The 2006 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, King showed just how dominant he can be earlier this season when he locked up All-American John Walker of Army, holding him to a single point in the Mountain Hawks 8-7 victory over the No. 14 Black Knights.  For his efforts, King was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on March 7.

In Lehigh’s season finale versus No. 6 Navy in the Patriot League Tournament, King scored his first goal of the season, and 12th of his career.  King, who made the switch from midfield to defense before the start of his sophomore season, finished his career for the Mountain Hawks with over 240 ground balls.  King was Lehigh's 12th all-time Patriot League major award winner, and first since 1999, when Todd Schreiner was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year and John McCloskey took home Coach of the Year honors.  King joined Schreiner and Scott Youmans (1995) as the only Lehigh players to ever be named Defensive Player of the Year.
