BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Three-time captain and all-league selection Jeff King has recently been selected to play in the 65th annual North-South Senior All-Star Classic, presented by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) and STX Lacrosse, on the campus of Villanova University on Friday, May 26.

Sixty of the nation’s top senior lacrosse players will be participating in this year’s event, which will pit the Division I and II squad, coached by Tom Postel and Randy Marks, versus the Division III team, headed by Jason Paige and Steve Colter.

King established himself as one of the most dominant defensemen in the entire Patriot League this season, often drawing the opposition’s toughest assignment.  The New York native led the Brown and White in both ground balls (74) and caused turnovers (16), ranking within the top-15 nationally for ground balls per game.  The 2006 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, King showed just how dominant he can be earlier this season when he locked up All-American John Walker of Army, holding him to a single point in the Mountain Hawks 8-7 victory over the No. 14 Black Knights.  For his efforts, King was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on March 7.

In Lehigh’s season finale versus No. 6 Navy in the Patriot League Tournament, King scored his first goal of the season, and 12th of his career.  King, who made the switch from midfield to defense before the start of his sophomore season, finished his career for the Mountain Hawks with over 240 ground balls.  King was Lehigh's 12th all-time Patriot League major award winner, and first since 1999, when Todd Schreiner was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year and John McCloskey took home Coach of the Year honors.  King joined Schreiner and Scott Youmans (1995) as the only Lehigh players to ever be named Defensive Player of the Year.

This marks the second consecutive season that a Lehigh player was chosen to play in this prestigious event, with Andrew Lucas ’05 participating a year ago.  The Long Island native scored one goal and scooped up three ground balls in helping to lead the South to a 14-11 victory.  King is the 15th Lehigh selection since 1986 for the North-South All-Star Classic.

Gates for the game will open at 6:00 with the opening face off set for 7:00.  Tickets will be available at the gate.  Adult admission is $10, while students are $5.  For more information, click on the link above.
