BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After netting a career-high three goals and dishing out an assist in Lehigh’s crucial 13-6 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday, freshman Rich Cornetta has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.  With Lehigh limited in its number of players available against the Crusaders, Cornetta stepped his game up, leading the Brown and White to its seventh victory of the season and 16th straight win vs. Holy Cross.

Cornetta assisted on the game’s first goal to Kevin Houk and then quickly netted his first score of the game to give the Mountain Hawks a 2-0 lead over the Crusaders.  Cornetta’s second and third goals both came in the second quarter, the final one coming with just 41 ticks on the clock before halftime.

Cornetta has now appeared in ten games for the Mountain Hawks, totaling four goals, one assist and three ground balls.  Cornetta leads all Lehigh freshmen in goals and points.

Cornetta and his Mountain Hawk teammates have off until Friday when they will take on archrival Lafayette in Easton.  Lehigh is a perfect 4-0 vs. the Leopards under head coach Chris Wakely.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00.
