Wiener's heroics lift Lehigh over No. 14 Army 8-7

Marino scored two goals and dished out the assist on the game-winner, while Blake Best added two scores for the Brown and White. Sophomore John Park stopped nine shots in goal for Lehigh, facing 28 on the day, upping his record to 3-1 in the process.
The victory was Lehigh’s third over a ranked opponent under head coach Chris Wakely, and first since downing No. 25 Penn last season at the Ulrich Sports Complex on March 16. The Mountain Hawks held All-American John Walker in check, as he scored only once and did not hand out any assists. Jon Burton led the Black Knights with two scores, while
“We came out slow today, a little sluggish from the start, but were able to get it in gear,” explained Wakely, who defeated Army for the first time in his time at Lehigh. “This is a great win for our program over a tremendous team, but win or lose, this was just one game, and we have to remain focused on what we’re trying to accomplish.”

Best scored the second quarter’s lone goal with just 2:04 remaining, off of an assist from Mike Moran, and the two teams retired for halftime tied at three.
Army came out from the break and scored twice, one goal from Mike Obringer and another from
Greg Furst tied the game at five with his first goal of the season at the 12:32 mark of the final quarter, setting up an exciting finish. Kevin LoRusso scored to put Army back up one with 11:08 to go, but Michael Zurfluh and Marino scored two straight goals for the Mountain Hawks, putting them up 7-6 with just 4:30 to go. But
Lehigh returns to action on Saturday, March 11 when the Mountain Hawks welcome Mount St. Mary’s to the Ulrich Sports Complex. Game time is set for 1:00.
