Bethlehem, PA – Two-time captain Andrew Lucas has added another impressive line to his lacrosse resume, as the Lucas is Lehigh’s first player to be selected to the team since Scott Carpenter was named an alternate in 2002. Todd Schreiner is the last Mountain Hawk to be named to the team outright, when the former goalie was selected in 2000. Other Brown and White alums to have been selected are: Marc Duncan (alternate in 1997), Vince Geppi (1997), Brian Baker (alternate in 1997), Anthony Souza (alternate in 1995), Scott Youmans (alternate in 1995), John Novak (1991), Chris Cameron (1990), Parker Carroll (1986) and Joel Miller (1986). Bucknell’s Chris Cara will also join Lucas on the South squad for the contest, along with players from national powerhouses Virginia, Duke, Lucas recently put the finishing touches on a brilliant career at Lehigh, where he finished with 110 goals, 126 points and 112 ground balls. Lucas was one of only eleven players in Patriot League history to have scored 100 career goals, including 35 as a senior. Lucas was a two-time All-Patriot League selection and a two-time captain for the Mountain Hawks. He was grateful for the opportunity to have a try-out with Major League Lacrosse, and although he did not get drafted, he still walked away from it knowing he gave it his all. "I just wanted to go in there and give it my best. I really wanted to show all of the other high-caliber players that Lehigh University knows how to play lacrosse and that we have a strong program too." Lucas continues, "Overall it was a great experience and I had a lot of fun that day. The guys were all really nice people and it was a gret day" Lucas then commented on his selection to the prestigious North-South Game: "It should be another worthwhile expereince, a real honor to play with kids of that caliber. I just want to go out and have fun." Following the North-South Classic, Lucas said he plans to continue playing lacrosse, whether it is through club ball or by coaching young children to give back what he had growing up.
