Billy Klotz pulled Holy Cross to within three again with his 20th goal of the season, but David Walsh netted his 12th goal of the year to put the Brown and White in front 6-2 with 37 seconds to go in the quarter, Paul LeBlanc then scored his first goal of the game with just nine seconds left in the quarter, and he opened the second quarter with his second score to pull the Crusaders to within two, at 6-4. The two teams were held scoreless for the next 12:35, before Klotz scored his second goal of the contest with 1:53 left in the half, making the score 6-5 in favor of the Brown and White. Walsh gave Lehigh the momentum heading into halftime however with his second goal of the game, with just 29 ticks left on the first half clock, sending Lehigh to the locker room ahead 7-5.
