Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh freshman goal keeper Eric Spirko has been named the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week for his performance in the Mountain Hawk’s 12-11 overtime victory against Colgate on Saturday, April 9 at the Ulrich Sports Complex.  Spirko stopped 15 shots on the afternoon, including two right in the beginning of the overtime session to help the Brown and White to the pivotal league victory.

Spirko, who has now won the Rookie of the Week award twice, has been nothing short of fantastic in goal for the Mountain Hawks.  The business major has stopped 99 shots on the season, and posted a save percentage of .550, while playing in over 520 minutes of action for the 6-4 Mountain Hawks.  Spirko has accounted for five of Lehigh’s six wins and has also scooped up 22 ground balls for the year.

Spirko and his Lehigh teammates return to action this Saturday evening as the Mountain Hawks travel to Worcester, MA to take on Holy Cross beginning at 7:00 in a game that will go a long way in determining the post season fate for both teams.
