Schreiner drafted by Philadelphia Barrage of MLL

Bethlehem, PA – Former Lehigh standout goal keeper Todd Schreiner was drafted in the eighth round by the reigning champions of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the Philadelphia Barrage, in the recent supplemental draft.  Schreiner was a two-time All-Patriot League selection (1999, 2000) and was a member of Lehigh’s only Patriot League Championship team in 1999.  Schreiner also played in the 2000 North-South All-Star Classic during his time on South Mountain.

 

During his sophomore season, Schreiner registered 158 saves in goal for the Mountain Hawks, in over 700 minutes of action.  As a junior, Schreiner was a First-Team All-League selection, after finishing fourth in the country in save percentage (.645) and eight in goals against average (8.31).  Schreiner logged 765 minutes in goal for Lehigh, sending back 193 shots for the season.  Schreiner was a Second-Team All-League choice as a senior, after playing 794 minutes and recording 223 saves.  His save percentage was 56 and he allowed just 8.92 goals per game. 

 

The Philadelphia Barrage, who play their games at Villanova Stadium, open their season on Sunday, May 29 and play until Thursday August 11.  The Barrage are coached by first year coach Tony Resch, who was a Yale graduate and was most recently an assistant coach with the Baltimore Bayhawks of the MLL.  Last season, the Barrage finished with a record of 7-5 and qualified for the playoffs, where they went onto defeat the Boston Cannons in the championship game 13-11 in Massachusetts.
