A team captain, Lewandowski led the Mountain Hawks in scoring for the third consecutive year with 16 points. Lewandowski’s team-best six goals were lower than the outputs of her two previous seasons, but she showed the ability to get her teammates more involved in 2005 as she handed out a career-high four assists, while directing a balanced attack that featured five players who scored multiple goals this season.
Lewandowski continued to show a knack for scoring in the clutch as three of her goals this past season were game winners. She also scored Lehigh’s lone goal in the Mountain Hawks Patriot League semifinal game versus Bucknell. Her 12 career game-winning tallies are the most in school history, while her 33 career goals rank second in school history.
A versatile two-way performer out of the midfield, Lewandowski also made significant contributions on the defensive end, for a Lehigh team that established a school record with 13 shutouts and allowed the fewest goals in all of Division I women’s soccer.
Lewandowski is the first women’s soccer player at Lehigh to earn All-Region recognition from the NSCAA. A three time All-Patriot League first team selection, she was the league’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005 after being named the league’s Rookie of the Year in 2003. Lewandowski is one of two Patriot League players named to the All-Mid Atlantic region teams; Navy’s Meggie Curran was a third team selection.
The Mountain Hawks finished the season 14-2-2, and were ranked as high as seventh in the Mid-Atlantic region. Lehigh will graduate just two players from a team that has qualified for the past two Patriot League Tournaments and captured a piece of the league’s regular season title for the first time.
